The Little Reader Curriculum extends over a 12-month period, split into two 6-month Semesters. English Little Reader Learning System, which can be used for teaching comprehension and reading for young children, comes with an educator-approved and parent-tested early reading curriculum, giving a day-to-day guide for teaching! The ready-made curriculum includes words and subjects outlined each day.

How vocabulary relates to English language learners(Ells)?

Over the course of a year, children will learn over 3,000 words in more than 180 subject categories. This vocabulary exposure alone is particularly vital for children learning English as a second language. Knowing vocabulary words is the key to reading comprehension. The more words a child knows, the better he or she will understand the text. Teachers can teach vocabulary directly. Using a variety of effective methods will increase the student’s ability to learn new words.

For a large majority of English language learners, the ultimate goal of studying is to be able to communicate in a new language. If you do not wish to lean completely on non-verbal skills, mastering vocabulary is not just important, but crucial in a foreign language environment.

For English language learners (Ells), vocabulary development is especially important. The average native English speaker enters kindergarten knowing at least 5,000 words. The average ELL may know 5,000 words in his or her native language, but very few words in English. While native speakers continue to learn new words, Ells face the double challenge of building that foundation and then closing the gap.  A rich vocabulary makes the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing easier to perform.
